Drilling a well was a priority for 2016 as Mitchell’s well was drying after about an hour of pumping. First, some pictures of fruit trees:
Winter at the farm is the best; go around and check animal footprints to see who has visited the farm; sit and have a cup of tea; I cannot do any work outside and it’s very quiet.
We drilled the well on June 28, 2016.
We grew a variety of garlic to see which will adapt to our farm; out of 10, we picked the winner – Russian. We plant garlic around fruit trees. Garlic is good for controlling pests in fruit trees. In the coming years, we will grow more garlic in the fruit tree area. Most of this years Russian garlic was planted for 2017 harvest.
Potatoes, kale, zucchini, beans, beets, leeks, onions, and tomatoes were grown and gave a very good harvest.
